1. Always Look for an Online Coupon

Anytime I shop online I look for an online coupon or promo code before checking out. This is as simple as using coupon websites/apps such as RetailMeNot or CouponSherpa. I cannot tell you how many times I have found unadvertised online coupon codes or have at least found free shipping codes by doing this. I even do this when purchasing event tickets. Another great way to find online coupons quickly is the Google Chrome extension called Honey. Once you have added the extension, Honey automatically detects when you are online shopping. The Honey icon turns orange, and a little number will pop up indicating how many coupon codes for that website are currently available. You just click on that icon, and Honey will list every single coupon code.

2. Check Ebay & Amazon

Using discount websites is a simple and quick way to save money. I almost always find items cheaper online than in retail stores. My two big go to discount websites are not surprsingly Ebay and Amazon. It’s shocking how much cheaper you can find items on these sites. It is as simple as using the Ebay and Amazon apps on your phone and scanning the barcode of the item you are looking to purchase in the store. My usual rule is if I save $10 or more I will order it online at the discounted price. I have been known to scan items in a store and immediately order them on Ebay or Amazon while I am still in the store because I find such a better deal.

3. Do Some Quick Homework

Doing some quick homework on the product you are wanting to purchase can go a long way. Using websites like QuickStyle can help you find all the retailers who carry the item you are wanting to purchase as well as compare prices to help you find the cheapest way to purchase it.

4. Use Free Price Trackers

Using free price tracking websites like SlickDeals and CamelCamelCamel will help you monitor the price of an item and it will alert you when the price goes down, helping you decide when to buy it.  CamelCamelCamel specifically helps you price track on Amazon and SlickDeals even has a “Top Coupons” tab. Price trackers are a great option for holiday or birthday gifts if you have time to monitor an item over a period of time and can purchase it when it reaches a lower price.

5. Check The Brand Website

Sometimes it can be cheaper to go to a brands website rather than purchasing items at a retailer such as Sephora or Ulta. Brand websites offer exclusive deals fairly often and are definitely worth a quick check before purchasing an item on a retail website with no discounts. You can also sign up for the brands online e-mail list so you can receive exclusive online offers.
